A bit late but the Bejing olympic games opening ceremony was something to behold.
Some of the images captured look like the work of M.C Escher or something out of Magic eye.

I found out today that about 25% of the televised olympic fireworks were computer generated... what a shame, although credit where credit is due on that one they did look amazing!
...and they did take a year to make realistic...maybe it's not so bad.
