The hypothetical question....

Ok what if...

An award acclaimed agency are starting a placement thing in September and want you involved, well located and paid but not a definate job offer at the end.

But...

A lesser known agency offer you a JOB possibly in the next couple of weeks but far away from home.

Help please, nothings written in stone for either of these but theres a possibility it could be happening and I would LOVE to know what other peoples opinions would be.

What would you do?

Depends how shit the smaller lesser known agency actually is?? No good agencies would offer a team fresh out of college a job without a placement.

But then what do you want to do? Good work that you truly believe in or shit work that you're embarrassed about.

London sounds more interesting. If nothing else you'll be in the center of it all. Meet more people, make more connections.

Placements are about hard work and getting to met people, it's also a matter of luck such as starting a placement when the CD is looking to hire a few juniors or joining when they've just hired a team so there no room for a new one.

My advice go for what the heart is saying not the head you can learn and live with mistakes but not regret.

you could go to a big agency and not enjoy it or go to a little one and love it, I always judge it on whether I can move up in the advertising world via good work which can be achieved anywhere look at when cp+b miami started

Hey girls - dilemma, eh?

Sounds like you're torn about it, so clearly interested in both (as any work for a new graduate can only be a good thing). How about you go for the job down in London and see how it goes. You could love it and want to stay down there. Or by September you could be wanting something different and want to move back home for the local placement. There's nothing to say you can't do both, just do what you both feel is right! : )

Could you not do both - you could get a good month in at the smaller one before the other starts - that might help you to decide

Nice little dilemma though :) Best of luck deciding! Hope it works out for you both! LB

The North West has a really good creative scene, there's some excellent accounts that you'd expect to find in London, here in Manchester. Also, in a small pond you've got more chance of making a name for yourselves and working on said accounts. Not being in London didn't put off Billy M. coming to BJL as CD.
